Developing New Gas Corrosion Test Instrument with “Chamber Exchanging SystemTM”

The four kinds of gases, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, nitrogen dioxide, and chlorine, are mainly used for the test of corrosion resistance against polluting gases. Among these gases, a chlorine has a highly reactive , and once a test containing the chlorine has been conducted,the chlorine will remain not only in the test chamber, but also in its piping as well. Since the residual chlorine shows strong interaction especially through reaction with hydrogen sulfide, there is a possibility of influencing test results. Moreover, it is extremely difficult to completely eliminate the chlorine from the sections that have been exposed to chlorine. Previously, in order to eliminate the influence of residual chlorine, two test chambers are necessary, one for using chlorine and the other for not using chlorine. We have newly developed a technology which would enable conducting these 2 kinds of tests on a single test instrument.
